A Shout Out to the Ladies

     Oh, that special time of each month when sugar cravings send forth their strongest warriors to the front lines. You all know what I am talking about. It is the point where we send up the white flag of defeat and surrender to the familiar enemy we know as chocolate. Ladies, this month it hit me. I will be perfectly honest, I just about made my way to one of my enemies campgrounds (DQ) to declare my defeat. For many of you chocolate is not hard to resist, but there is always something lurking around the next corner, just waiting for your will power to grow weak. I did a little research on why we all feel this need to surrender once a month and what I found was very interesting. There is no scientific proof to explain the cravings.  
               As good ol Sylvester once said....


Why we have these cravings is beyond me, but we must acknowledge that they are there. Otherwise, they will continue to eat away at us until we give in. I believe that the first step in any change we want to make is to first acknowledge our weaknesses. When we acknowledge those weaknesses we become stronger. There is a verse in the Bible that I really like and it comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9, "Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me." This verse tells me that even in my weakest moments, God is using me to do his work... all I can say is... Wow! Every month, at the same time I know that even when I want to make a trip to Dairy Queen, God is somehow using that moment of weakness for a purpose. 
     Well it has been about a month now that I took the challenge to let go of my relationship with sugar, and I won't say that it has gotten easier, but I can say that I have gotten stronger. I was challenged by my family to exercise three times a week, and up to this point I have been focusing on my sugar detox but I think it is now time to acknowledge another weakness of mine....exercising. To be honest ladies I hate it. However it is now time to start burning off some of my newly found energy. I encourage you all to join me.   1. The video is too cute! I have to watch tv while I exercise, either on the Nordic trak or my "walk away the pounds" video. I wrote down all the moves on the video so I don't have to watch IT, but can watch a favorite show while exercising. What can I say, I like tv, about as much as sugar!
